Warren Hardy is the president of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Southern Nevada. Recently the former Republican state senator told a legislative panel that he believes Nevada's prevailing wages for laborers is way too high.

Prevailing wages are those the state pays for labor on public building projects and represents wages, benefits, and overtime paid to workers in a given area (eg Nevada). Hardy claims the fairly recent building boom ( 2000 through 2007) forced wages to such high levels.

Laborer's prevailing wages in the surrounding Clark County area are currently at $42.94, while the rate in the Maricopa County, AZ (Phoenix ) area is $14.28.

Cheers...
